Permanent Installations
Centurion
The Centurion was designed by artist John O'Rourke, who provided a wooden model of the artwork made from over 600 parts.
I worked on measuring and redrawing each of the piece in to a digital 3D model and scaled it up to almost 9ft. The pieces were then jet cut from Corten Steel and assemble in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The statue now stands at Segedunum Roman Fort and Museum in Wallsend.
Skateparks
In my year in industry between 3rd and 4th year of university I worked at the design company Bendcrete Skateparks. I was the sole designer and worked closely with community groups to produce a design that fulfilled local needs whilst also meeting local authority planning objectives and budgets
Theme Park Control Booth
Whilst working at Scen Ideas we were commisssioned to design and build a control booth for the Playland (PNE) amusement park in Vancouver.
The booth had to house controls for one of the rides, alongside a pneumativ pump and a space for the attendant to overlook and control the ride.
The building had to meet local building standards, however we over-engineered its structure and fixings to compensate for the pneumativ pump vibrations. Two large, 3d cut foam orcas and a CNC fabricated sign was mounted to the roof. Finally, the structure was wrapped in a graphic vinyl.
