Drafting
Drawing on my DipArch degree from the Glasgow School of Art, working within the events industry and experience as a Stage technician for the Scottish Opera, I have a practical insight into creating drawings and designs for the events industry.
In Vancouver I worked with events and staging company Scene Ideas to create drawings for exhibitions, corporate functions and sporting events. These included fabrication drawings for the workshop, installation packages for the on-site crews and engineering drawings for steel deck structures.
I also worked for Bard on the Beach Festival and Great Northern Way Scene Shop to produce build drawings for various scenic elements.
Fabrication
I was part of the fabrication team at the Museum of Anthropology (University of British Columbia) where I worked on two public exhibitions.
Working on these installations developed my workshop based carpentry skill and gave me hands on experience in exhibition construction
I also spend my free time working on personal fabrication projects such as an allotment shed, a mezzanine bed for a friend's daughter and other furniture prototypes
Permanent Installations
Whilst most of my drafting and design work has been for temporary structures in the events and live entertainment industry, I have also worked on some permanent installations,
This has included a large corten steel statue (The Centurion), a control booth for an amusement park ride, and a selection of skateparks and features that can be found across the UK.
